Despite the fact that 3 of the 4 cars in our family are SUVs or Trucks I like to think of myself as fairly environmentally conscience. I learned biodynamic farming from a graduate of UC Santa Cruz who studied under Chadwick. Dirt cred, as it were.

So when I needed a new push mower I found myself dreaming of a bucolic childhood (not my own) where fields were hewn clean by legions of mowers - mower being defined as the union of man and push machine.

I hit up the local Wal-mart and lo and behold my dream realized and what's more, on sale.

Half the initial cost of it's gas swilling counterparts. Twice the exercise. No ear protection needed. No neighbors or family to wake. Little to break down, little to maintain.

Perfection.
