Email Issues
So, for the past month or so we've been stuck in email hell. As near as anyone can figure it all started with a "backscatter" attack - you know, where you get 10,000 messages saying "MAIL NOT DELIVERED" or some such variation - which must have overloaded something somewhere because we started having trouble receiving actual, real, customer related mail. It also meant that some people who sent us messages that legitimately bounced never received the bounce notification because the SPAM KILLERS assumed it was "backscatter".
In the course of figuring all this out I've learned that hotmail drops close to 80% of it's messages - including everything (or nearly everything) that bounces. Scary.
I've also learned that DNS is usually the culprit. So, we've switched our DNS services. And we've switched email providers. And things seem to finally be settling down.
The IMPORTANT THING, if you've sent us an email recently and we haven't replied - there's a good chance we never received it. We always reply. Really. So please, either give us a call or resend the message.
