My Brothers House
Kinderhook, New York
Martin was getting ready to run for President and Lawrence decided he needed to build a nice house to host some parties for his "OK" brother. Brick by brick he fashioned this historic gem. 12 over 12 windows full of original glass, the arched front entrance, iron fencing, wide board floors patina'd by 200 years of living, the moldings around the doors, windows and mantel on the fireplaces are the details that bring the past to present. The galley kitchen leads into the fireplaced formal dining. The light streams in, so you know that Larry was a happy sibling. In to the living room for some conversation and relaxation. Up the hand carved rail lined stairs to a sitting area, a spot to read and write. A bedroom off to the side and the master. Another flight up finds another sitting area and bedroom. The large screened porch off the back of the house is perfect for summer soirees. A three bay garage holds a separate two bedroom apartment for guests, friends or children of a certain age.
I'd love to see this...
